Belinda Humphries - Last month Sue and Ali from the HC team attended the Manufacturers Monthly Endeavour Awards at Sydney Olympic Park, so award ceremonies have been front of mind for us. It got us thinking about the value of awards programs.
As validating as it may be to stand on stage holding a trophy, is that 15 minutes of fame actually worth it for the time and effort that goes into the submission process?
In many cases preparing an entry involves a long written submission, project results which can be hard to quantify, work samples, testimonials and plenty more.
If you find yourself on the shortlist or better yet, the winners’ podium you can communicate to your stakeholders that your work is among the best-in-class, and there’s definitely some value in that Preparing an entry is also a good chance to critically evaluate your work and celebrate your efforts.
Another oft-overlooked benefit is available to those who win, those who are shortlisted, those who enter and even those who don’t – awards nights are great networking opportunities! Sue and Ali got to connect with some highly engaged, well regarded movers and shakers at the Endeavour Awards. So what awards are coming up for your industry, and will you be entering?
