What did the HC staff get up to on the October long weekend? Here's a quick look!
Beautiful Spring weather beckoned me outside over the October long weekend. I headed out the door early on both Saturday and Sunday morning to ride my bike with friends around my local area and further west. The rest of the time I spent socialising, gardening and of course a few chores to keep the household running smoothly. Nicola.
Kicking off the school holidays with a party at the amazing Tamworth Regional Playground, finally seeing the late, but safe, arrival of our only foal for the season and watching the team courage inspired by injured Rooster Cooper Cronk were the highlights of my long weekend. Karen.

Grand finals weekend means three things at my house: cooking too much, eating too much and shouting at the TV - including arguing with refs who can’t hear us about rules we don’t understand, and offering coaching advice on a game we’ve never played. The AFL final was a nail biter, the NRL final was a dud and the sausage rolls were excellent, which is what really matters. Kendi.
My long weekend started with the joys of preparing for an open home. I way underestimated the work it takes on a weekly basis to transform a bustling household to look like a show home that no one lives in. So, I fittingly laboured like a daemon and out came the throw rugs and cushions and staged coffee breaks like this one … that I didn’t get to partake in by the way. With the hard work over, a highlight was lamb skewers and fresh potatoes straight from the garden, cooked over an open fire in the backyard and shared with my loved ones. Sue.

I took myself and my 17-month old twin boys off to visit my Grandmother on the long weekend. A recent Regional Voices interview with Charlotte Drake-Brockman, who, at 84, is full of life and vitality, made me think of Nanny. Sure enough Nanny had already played tennis, been to the hairdresser and done the shopping on the day I phoned to plan a visit. Also 84 – she’s the picture of health. We had a great visit - Jack and Charlie took Labour Day literally and got to work in the garden! Ali.
