The truth is, there’s no silver bullet, but there are some things you can do to improve your search rankings. Let me give you a couple of simple hints – no strings, and definitely don’t send me any of your kids!
Images - Google bots can’t see pictures? They only crawl over the text on your site so you need to use words to get Google to understand what your pics are all about.
Create file names that use your targeted keywords and your brand and add a description to get even better traction. And Google loves SVG, WebP, PNG, JPEG, GIF and BMP image files.
User experience - In the early days of SEO user experience ranked pretty low on the must do list. Today it is essential to rate high in search results. Just think back to the last bad website you visited – the page was slow to load, the images wouldn’t come up, the navigation was confusing and finding the contact us information was near impossible.
All these things contribute to high bounce rates off your site and deter the visitor from coming back. Remove the road blocks and not only will Google thank you but so will your visitors.
Linking to external websites – Any time you recommend another website make sure they are reputable, relevant and provide good user experience. And remember to set up the link so it opens in a new window, making a return to your website easy.
As with your own content, Google will crawl and follow the links that you provide so make sure it is trusted content that you want to be aligned with.
Content - If you want Google to increase your search ranking you must make content interesting and relevant. There’s no use throwing keywords in randomly throughout your copy – these bots are fairly sophisticated and they can spot a con job a mile away.
