Since its inception 10 years ago, Sydney-based equipment hire company GoodService has exclusively bought JCB products, citing reliability, ease-of-use and durability as the driving factors behind this brand loyalty.
Chadd Dotta, owner and founder of GoodService says JCB has been part of his business story from the beginning.
“I bought my first JCB telehandler second-hand and from that first purchase my business evolved,” he says.
Chadd has recently bought his seventh JCB, a 531-70 C telehandler. The 531-70 C is equipped with the award-winning JCB EcoMAX engine and is ideal for construction sites of any shape or size thanks to its three selectable steer modes, including two-wheel steer for high-speed road travel, four-wheel steer for working in small spaces, and crab steer for better movement near walls and buildings.
Construction projects make up to 95% of GoodService’s work, so these qualities, along with its compact design, make it the ideal choice.
“JCB is a big part of my brand,” Chadd says.
“A lot of clients, when they dry hire, wouldn’t want to sit in anything else because of the comfort and size of JCB,” he says.
The cab is not only one of the largest on the market, but also has excellent ventilation and demisting, a fully adjustable steering column and top-of-class low noise levels. The boom, which has been designed with limited joints and stress points on the nose and a one-piece closing plate for extra strength, is mounted low on the chassis to optimise over-the-shoulder visibility for the driver.
Other design features include side-mounted recessed bonnets and fold-up rear lights to avoid damage to the telehandler while on-site. A one-piece welded chassis maximises the strength and minimises the weight of the 531-70 C.
“I can’t fault JCB products on quality or reliability,” Chadd says.
“The fact that I can go to work and keep going and that all the equipment uses the same attachments makes it very simple,” he says.
Aside from the products themselves, the support and service of JCB CEA over the years has been second-to-none. “Our sales rep has been really helpful and gone above and beyond and the service department has always been able to give me a hand or straight up answer,” Chadd says.
The 531-70 C is the new addition to Chadd’s fleet, but the 540-170 is the flagship telehandler of the GoodService brand.
“It’s versatile, not oversized and handles itself really well. It’s what everyone knows me in – they know I’ll turn up with it,” Chadd says.
