According to Glenn McLeod, Backhoe Product Manager for JCB Construction Equipment Australia, the JCB Backhoe has maintained the largest market share for seven years straight.
“2017 has been our best year for market position for our backhoes, especially so in the major markets on the east coast, with Tasmania recording a 77.8% market share, followed by Victoria at 54.2%, Queensland at 53.8%, who were up 11.6% and the largest market NSW at 50.9% up 13.4% from 2016, which is terrific growth in a crowded market,” Glenn says.
There have been a number of contributing factors to JCB’s substantial climb in the market over the past 12 months, particularly the introduction of the 3CX Elite Tier4i. This model is highly regarded by JCB’s local government customers, especially for its remarkable fuel consumption averaging less than six litres per hour.
“We’ve put a strong focus within JCB CEA on local government tenders over the past 12 months, and from that, the second half of the year saw us at nearly 70% success rate for tender wins proving to be quite a significant market for us,” Glenn says.
“Our team have also performed exceptionally well. Our dealer network sold nearly 50% of the backhoes over the past year.”
He adds, “It’s not only our sales staff who are performing but also the service and support staff who ensure our customers machinery needs are dealt with in a timely matter.”
“We’re all looking forward to the next 12 months, and increasing our market share even further,” says Glenn.
