With nutrition in the spotlight this month, it’s a great reminder of the vital role our food-producing clients play in keeping Aussie families strong and well-fed.

Sue – With three gym-obsessed teenagers at home, protein dominates our grocery list. It’s all about building muscle and staying fuller for longer, and if their habits are anything to go by, it’s the foundation of a healthy diet. Safe to say we’re doing our bit to support our clients in the red meat and chicken industries!

Kendi – I’m just back from Hort Connections where I was literally surrounded by Australia’s best fresh produce. Working in this space has introduced me to a couple of new favourites including donut peaches, which are flat and sweet and delicious, and rockit apples – teeny, tiny little fruit that are sweet, crisp and moreish.

Alex – I’ve been pretty lucky over the years at HC to meet some amazing farmers and agribusinesses who grow the produce we see on our supermarket shelves every day. Knowing where our food comes from makes me value it so much more – I love that when I’m buying my low-carb potatoes or broccolini, I know the people behind the brand and the story that brought that produce to life!

Shereen – Fruit and veggies are the heroes in our house! My dad grows amazing things in his garden, from tomatoes, bananas, beans and zucchini, to figs, macadamias, dragon fruit and prickly pear which he’s always sharing with us. We also love taking trips to the Sydney Markets and joining fruit and veg co-ops to support local growers. Making sure fresh food is always on our plates is important, and we don’t let anything go to waste – whether it’s freezing, juicing, making stock, soups or pickles. I’ve learnt the value of sustainability from my parents, and it’s something we live by every day to support the Australian food industry.

Karen – Being regional, we grow our own beef and eggs and source local produce wherever we can – including paddock to plate lamb, turkey, fruit and veggies. Also love the fresh raspberries in stores recently!
