This year’s theme #AgDay theme, Stand with the Land, reflects the real pressures facing Australian agriculture. Climate variability, shifting global markets, freight costs and workforce shortages are not abstract ideas for agriculture. They affect production, processing and distribution in very immediate ways.

It is also a moment to highlight the full supply chain, including what happens beyond the farm. Some of the most significant gains in productivity and sustainability are being achieved by the companies and professionals that sit upstream and downstream from primary production. Selling machinery, running logistics, advising on science and getting produce from farm to consumer are all part of the Australian ag story.

And of course, as consumers, we all rely on our agri sector.

Did you know

Our ag sector is pretty amazing:

  • The Australian agriculture sector currently produces over A$80 billion in value each year
  • It supports over 285,000 jobs nationally
  • Approximately 11 percent of Australia’s exports come from agriculture.
  • More than 50% of Australian farms are using precision agriculture technologies such as sensors, drones or satellite-data tools to improve decision-making and resource efficiency

National Agriculture Day is a reminder of the scale and diversity of the people who keep the supply chain moving. We’re proud to support them and proud to operate in a sector that is practical and essential.

How will you mark Ag Day?

A short internal message to staff, a social post from a regional site or a note to clients recognising your link to the ag supply chain are some of the simple things you could consider.  What else do you have planned?
