Alexandra Williams - 7.30am – I’m out the door at 7.30am, living in Richmond means I need to give myself a bit of extra time to brave unpredictable Sydney traffic. I leave the house with a send-off from some friendly faces.
8.30am – The day begins with my second coffee, in my very colourful KeepCup (#waronwaste). I use the first hour of the morning to sort through my emails, check news alerts on client mentions, and add any tasks to my to-do list for the day.
I usually write my to-do list before I leave the previous day so it’s ready to go for when I get in and I don’t forget anything. It’s a good habit that I can recommend to anyone looking for an organisational tip.
10am – Our weekly staff WIP meeting where we get together to discuss all things HC - from our client forecasts and agency marketing plans, to creative problem solving. The meeting always starts with us standing up and reviewing last week’s action items and how we can all support each other if we’re feeling a bit stuck.11am – Morning meetings are over and it’s time to get stuck into some work.
Today, I’m working on kick-starting a full program of work for a client launching a big internal announcement. The project involves a number of assets which include visuals such as video, presentations and print collateral, key messaging and executive communications documents.
It’s a full-scale program of work with lots of interesting assets to produce. I work closely with Al our Ops and Creative Services Manager to source supplier quotes for design and videography, and Kendi, our Strategy and Content Director to ensure our strategy is tightly in line with client objectives.
1pm – Time for lunch! Today I walk down the road to get some fresh air and time away from my computer. On the menu for me is a Philly Cheese Steak Roll from our new favourite spot Newington Café, and Al and I share a sneaky side of sweet potato chips.
2pm – Back at my desk to prep for a phone conference with one of our international clients. They are based in China so the time difference is workable. We have an exciting project in the works – watch this space.
3.30pm – This afternoon I have a long-standing client come in for our fortnightly WIP meeting. These regular meetings are important to not only ensure major projects stay on track, but also to identify any new opportunities or assets we can sweat. All in a day’s work.
4.15pm - The day is starting to wrap up and I head back to my desk to attend to any outstanding tasks and emails. I’m heading a few projects at the moment so the remainder of the day is coordinating feedback, requests, and edits, as well as making some end-of-day client calls and delivering completed work. It’s great delivering projects we’ve worked so hard on come together and get out to our clients.5.20pm – Before I leave, I write my to-do list for the next day, but I’ve come to learn that working in a fast-paced agency, that I can’t anticipate every move for the next day. Once done, I head home to unwind before taking on whatever tomorrow may bring!
